Chris Brewer and Flash
There is a saying that you don’t pick your service dog. A service dog picks you. Flash came into Chris’ life when he was 2 years old after he was returned to his breeder and then sent “to prison” as a service dog in training. After 6 months of training, it was clear that Flash was not cut out for service dog work so it was time to find another home for Flash. A call was made to Chris to see if she would be interested in Flash to use as her therapy dog at Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital. They met for the first time at a food court in South County Mall, and from the moment Chris took his leash, the bond was made and Flash never looked back. After 2½ years, he had finally found his person. Flash is now 14 ½ years young and still enjoys chasing his jolly ball in the yard and getting belly rubs. The eyes are little cloudy, but the bond between Chris and Flash is as strong as ever. Flash is running not only for himself but also for his best friend Madison who crossed the rainbow bridge 2 years ago.
